aloe-africana

10-11 January 2014, Huntington Library, San Marino

This two-day international conference, sponsored by the Huntington Library and organized by Dr. Emily Senior (Birkbeck) and Dr. Sarah Easterby-Smith (St. Andrews) examined the relationship between the aesthetic production and social circulation of knowledge about the natural world. Connecting literary, visual and discursive forms of analysis with approaches current within social history, the conference interrogated the relationship between social participation in science and the aesthetic and cultural forms of its making.
